ConnectiCon 2009 is going to be an absolutely great time, our best convention yet, because as we’re sure you’ve heard, ConnectiCon keeps getting better and better.

Over 6,000 people attended ConnectiCon in 2008, making it New England’s largest pop culture event of the summer! Why pop culture you ask? Well, because ConnectiCon doesn’t focus on just one element of fandom, the convention’s organizers are fans of a lot of different things, so we focus on all of the awesome stuff that we like including: web comics, anime, console games, board games, table top miniatures, science fiction, fantasy, comics books, roleplaying games, live action roleplaying, collectible card games, and horror. You name it we’ve probably got something related going on, even Madden Football, and spontaneous games of Twister while folks wait in line! ConnectiCon has “Everything but the kitchen sink!”

For ConnectiCon 2009 we're spreading out and using more space at the Connecticut Convention Center and the Hartford Marriott Downtown, so that we can pack even more events into an exciting, fun-filled weekend!

Expect to have: three 24-hour screening rooms showing new releases, classic favorites and independent features from anime, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and related genres, we’re increasing 5 panel rooms, 3 workshop rooms, a 2,500 seat main events hall, 9 4-hour slots of roleplaying games showcasing mainstream and independent games for experienced players or beginners. Thanks to our sponsor, GameStop, Console gaming is going to explode featuring over 100 systems for free play and tournament use. We’re expanding the size and scope of board games, miniatures gaming, and collectible card games this year with over 20 Magic: The Gathering tournaments, over 40 miniatures events, more than 75 tables for board games with an active group of game instructors and publishers. ConnectiCon is showcasing over 7,000 hours of programming during our 3-day event.

Last year (2008), our web comic charity auction raised nearly $2,000 for Child’s Play, a Seattle based, gamer-run organization that holds an annual toy drive for childrens’ hospitals. Items auctioned have included named appearances in various comics, plane tickets home, framed boxers, custom art, books, a dinner date and whole lot more! These auctions are crazy!

Keep in touch year round on the forums and stop by our MONTHLY, member’s only, mini-conventions, at our Newington Office, between 10am and 10pm on the 2nd Saturday of each month. See you there!
Please don't email guest relations with membership questions Posted by: Gale
on Friday, July 17th at 2:15 pm
I have been receiving emails from individuals about membership (ie. registration and payment) problems. PLEASE do not send them to the guest relations department. I cannot help you. Guests of the convention are individuals from the various industries we cater to who attend to present panels, autograph signings, and various other presentations for their fans. The guest relations department acts as liaisons for these guests to the convention NOT as liaisons for the attendees to the convention. Any attendee, or member, of the convention with a problem such as registration issues should instead contact members@connecticon.com or use the "membership questions" tab on the contact form, NOT guest relations.

Thank you.

We regret to announce that Scott Chernoff of Legend of Neil is no longer able to attend this year. The rest of the Legend of Neil cast already scheduled, however, will still be in attendance.

Just though you all might like to know that you can download the ConnectiCon 2009 Program Book here(please note it is a 50MB .pdf file and may take a while to download): http://www.connecticon.org/program_book.php

Also, you probably want to know that if you register to attend ConnectiCon on or before July 18, 2009 you'll save $5 on your membership vs. registering at the convention, and save some time waiting in line. So save some money, AND have more time to have fun at ConnectiCon. For those of you who choose to mail in your pre-registration payment, as long as the envelope is post-marked July 20, 2009 or earlier, you'll be fine as well. To register now, follow this link: http://www.connecticon.org/index.php?sec=registration&sub=register_me

See you in just TWO weeks!

Appology from Guest Relations about the contact form Posted by: Gale
on Tuesday, July 14th at 2:32 pm
To anyone who has been using the contact form to send messages to the guest relations department in the past several months I want to extend my sincerest apology. When I was appointed as head of the department in March somehow the contact form was never edited to forward the messages tagged for guest relations to my inbox. We have just corrected this error and I am attempting to contact those who used the contact form to get in touch with guest relations since February. If you tried to contact us since then and do not get a response in the next couple of days please feel free to email me at burnett.h@connecticon.org or use the contact form again (it works now). Again I am deeply sorry for this mix-up and hope that we can resolve any problems it has caused.

Sincerely,
Hanna Burnett
