Tournament Rules
As a contestant in an official ConnectiCon 2009 Console Gaming Tournament, a certain level of conduct will be expected of you. Please be kind and courteous to your fellow gamers and follow all the instructions of the Event Leader in charge of your tournament. Any failure to comply with these rules, or any others, may result in you being disqualified and/or removed from the convention.
- I. Unsportsmanlike conduct and cheating: bug exploits, cheats, codes, and so on are expressly forbidden, and will result in immediate disqualification. Just don't do it.
- II. Pausing is reserved solely for rules calls and should be used sparingly. Take time during free play to learn the controls, turn cell phones off, and go to the bathroom before the tournament – none of those are acceptable reasons to pause a game in the middle of a tournament!
- III. All-loss times are in effect, and will be declared at the start of every round of every tournament. If any contestants fail to finish their game and have their scores reported before the all-loss time, they will be disqualified. Time is a factor in all tournaments, so it is up to you to promptly begin and complete your game before time runs out.
- IV. No, you cannot use your own save file/profile/screen name/Mii/controller/hard drive/whatever. No exceptions will be made. This is to ensure all tournaments are fair and balanced.
- V. Any problems should be brought the attention of the nearest Event Leader immediately. Don't complain later on that the controller wasn't working – tell us so that we can set things straight and get your game resumed or restarted in a timely fashion!
- VI. Cheese. You know what it is: repetition of an unblockable move, repeatable combos, endless juggles, and so on. While there's plenty of room for debate outside tournaments about what constitutes “cheese,” inside a tournament, it is the Event Leader's call that counts. If you are warned not to use a certain technique, don't do it again, or you will be disqualified. Tournaments are supposed to be fun for everyone, and nobody likes playing a cheeser.
- VII. Punctuality is very important to our being able to run the amount of tournaments we plan on having. If you are more than 5 minutes late to the start of a tournament you will be removed from the competition and will forfeit any entry fees paid for the tournament.
- VIII. ConnectiCon reserves the right to reschedule, change, add, or remove any tournament or event for any reason. Please check in at the console gaming desk for any changes made to the printed schedule.
